Goodbye And Hello

Thank you for supporting my writing this year. I’ve opened up my archived pieces for a few days for everyone to read, in case you’re relatively new here, or missed them first time around. There are well over two dozen in total. These are among my favourite few:

I’m not a December person and I’m relieved the New Year is almost here. My philosophy for 2024 is “more learning, fewer screens, more travel, more reading, better time management, fewer possessions” If I fail at that, carrying on more or less as I am wouldn’t be so disastrous. I have a new novel out in summer that I couldn’t be more excited about, two audiobooks to record, plus a couple of other projects on the go that remain top secret (no, one of them is not to further my nascent acting career). I’m also thinning down my record collection here, in case rare vinyl is the bag you are in, although I won’t be selling either my UK or US original pressings of the album that this post is named after, as it’s one of the purest forms of magic. I’m still figuring out how this whole Substack thing works most effectively, for me and for you. All I can say is I’ll try to keep getting better at it. It really helps SO MUCH when people give me a recommendation on their page, so big big thanks if you have done that.
I’ve decided to continue my offer of a free signed paperback of Villager with every annual subscription. I feel confident in saying that if you’ve enjoyed the writing here, you’ll enjoy it as least as much. My mum, Jo, has kindly passed on some more of her original artwork as free gifts for subscribers, so if you get in quick and subscribe over the next day or two, it’s very likely you’ll receive some of that, too. (The offer is open worldwide.)
Best wishes for tomorrow and beyond!
Tom
